SUBJECT: November 2022 Kincaid Cat Tracks

It's November and the kick off to what we like to call Kincaid's 'Tis The Season of Giving Community Initiatives. This is the month we launch outreach drives to support others in need through our partnerships with MUST Ministries and local food pantries. It is also the month in which we as individuals acknowledge what makes us thankful and share our appreciation of others. 

So as we gather with loved ones this holiday season, here are ways you can participate and support Kincaid:

  • Donating to the canned food drive the second week of November. 
  • Showing off your baking (or buying) skills by bringing in yummy goodies for the annual staff cookie exchange - Cookie Copia on November 16.
  • Purchasing a toy for a child in need during the Giving Tree Drive, November 28-December 9th.
  • Volunteering to help with classroom winter parties on December 14. Kindergarten-2nd grade will hold parties from 11am-12pm. 3rd-5th grade will have theirs from 12:30-1:30pm. Look for additional details from room parents.

Canned Food Drive, November 14-18

Help Kincaid help others in our community this holiday season. Families are asked to donate canned goods during our Canned Food Drive November 14 - 18 which will be given to local food pantries and MUST Ministries. Collection boxes will be placed near the café entrance for donated items. 

Cookie Copia - November 16

Kincaid teachers and staff members are a big part of our school community and we want to let them know how thankful we are for them. Help us shower them with yummy goodies ahead of the holidays. Sign up and show off your baking skills (or buy from a local store) and bring either sweet, salty, healthy, nut free or gluten-free treats for our school staff to enjoy on November 16.

Label foods for allergies and bring to the school by 8:00am. Place in disposable containers only. Nothing will be sent home.  

The Giving Tree Drive, November 28-December 9

Help bring a smile to a child's face this winter by participating in the annual Giving Tree Drive. Students can choose to pick a gift tag from the tree in the lobby for parents to use to purchase a toy for a child in need this holiday season. Return your new, unwrapped toy to the school with the original gift tag. All purchased items will be delivered to the MUST Ministries Marietta location.

Next PTA General Meeting, December 1 (In Person)

Next General Meeting of the Kincaid Elementary School PTA will take place on Thursday, December 1 at 6:30pm (In Person) at the school in the gym. It will be followed by a special grade level performance. Sparkles Spirit Night, December 9

December 9, Kincaid is once again taking over Sparkles from 4-8pm. Bring your family and friends to Sparkles Skate Center in Kennesaw on that Friday and help us raise $$ for our school when you purchase the Kincaid PTA Package.

Cost: $15 per person

Package Includes: Skating, Skate Rental, Playground use and 1 game of Laser Tag.

Upcoming Key Dates:

  • 11/17 – Foundation Board Meeting 7:30AM. Our meetings are totally open, you do not need to be a board member to attend! Please join us if you want to know more about what the Foundation does. Virtual link will be sent out via CTLS closer to 11/17.
  • 12/2 – Foundation Friday – Pajama Day. Bring $2 and wear your pajamas to school in support the Foundation.

The Book Fair is Coming to Kincaid! November 3 - November 10

Join us for the Bedford Falls Book Fair in the Kincaid Elementary Library Learning Commons from November 3 - 10th!  Shop online through Nov 11th with this featured flyer-Bedford Falls 2022 (bedfordfallsusa.com). Or stop by the Learning Commons to make in person purchases from 7:15am-2:00pm. All profits benefit the Learning Commons Design Lab and Kincaid Elementary literacy initiatives.
