SUBJECT: Kincaid Cat Tracks for Winter 2022

HELLO 2022!

Happy New Year! We hope you had a great holiday break. Thank you to all the room parent representatives for the awesome winter parties held in December. Through support from our room parents, using funds donated by families earlier in the year, we were able to provide $50 Target gift cards for each of our 41 support staff.

We are half way through the school year and everyone (parents, students, Kincaid teachers and staff) has gone above and beyond to keep Kincaid safe and open. With that focus in mind, the Kincaid PTA has also made adjustments to the format for upcoming programs and ceremonies. As you look through this issue of Cat Tracks, please note the changes and look for additional details soon.

Looking Ahead...
REFLECTIONS RECEPTION RESCHEDULED

This year's PTA Reflections program had an awesome participation from Kincaid students. There were a total of 13 submissions. Great job students! Two Kincaid students are headed to GA PTA State level.

CONGRATULATIONS

William Fernandez (Photography) and Naoki Bush (Music Composition)

The reception for all 2021 Reflections participants has been rescheduled. It will be held on Friday, February 18 in the cafeteria. Additional details will be sent home to all participants and their families.

VIRTUAL RECEPTION - SPRING 2022

Thank you for all the submissions in our Honoring Our Heroes writing program. Students were encouraged to write about a real-life hero and role model. Information is currently in the Judging stage and the grade level winners will be notified directly. A virtual reception for all entries and their heroes will take place later in the Spring. Details to be provided to all participants and their families. The first-place essays from each grade level will be sent to the East Cobb County Council of PTAs for special recognition. Questions, please email Nikkia Velazquez at heroes@kincaidpta.org

NEXT PTA GENERAL MEETING

Our next general PTA meeting will be on Thursday, March 3rd at 6:30pm. Details on how to attend will be shared closer to the meeting date.

BUDGET & BYLAWS AMENDMENTS

We are proposing amendments to the Kincaid Elementary PTA Bylaws and 2021 Budget. There will be adjustments to the budget to better reflect expenditures and updated bylaws to increase the number of Vice President positions, adding a Diversity & Inclusion VP.

Visit https://kincaidpta.membershiptoolkit.com/news to review the proposed changes.

FOUNDATION UPDATES

We wrapped up the Family Investment Campaign at the end of December with a total of $11,000 raised. This year, Foundation has funded the PTA, the Book-of-the-Month program, the STEM lab, and the teacher supply fund. More projects will be funded in the coming months.

For 5th Grade Families, the Kincaid Foundation invites you to consider a donation to the Legacy Fund. Separate from other Foundation projects and initiatives, The Legacy Fund was established in 2017 as a way for families of 5th graders to fund a special project or program to benefit the entire school community. As your child prepares to move on to middle school, think about leaving a lasting gift in honor of your student. More information will be coming home in your child's folder soon.

Additionally, we need three 5th grade parents to be on the Legacy Fund Committee. This is a short-term commitment with virtual committee meetings a couple of times in March to help decide how to use the funds. If interested, contact Kate Pollard at president@kincaidfoundation.org.
