SUBJECT: Kincaid Cat Tracks for October 2021

PTA Is For EVERYONE!

The most frequently asked questions are, "What is PTA?" and What does the PTA do?" As you read through this month's issue of Cat Tracks, hopefully you will get a better understanding of the benefits of the PTA and how it really IS FOR EVERYONE!

PTA offers opportunities to share resources and learn with others experiencing the same concerns as you. This helps us all to build a stronger foundation and more powerful voice when (1) planning programs which grow collaborative efforts with the school, and (2) putting forth legislation that benefits the entire Kincaid community. Check out these ways you can use your voice.

  • The 2021 Georgia PTA Advocacy Conference; October 28th from 8 AM TO 2 pm at Sloppy Floyd Bldg (Empire Room, 200 Piedmont Avenue SE Atlanta, GA 30334). This event aims to equip, inspire, and motivate advocates to unite. It is an opportunity for those passionate in advocating for children to expand their knowledge of the ins-and-outs of state law, grow their advocacy skills, and explore policy goals and priorities for the year. Cost: PTA Members: $25/ Non-Members: $35. Deadline to register is October 20th. Registration required.

  • Ed-Splost VI (the 1% sales tax) is on the ballot this November. It is important for our school and community as our student population is expected to increase and our infrastructure ages and/or becomes outdated. Revenue from SPLOST is vital to the continued growth and maintenance of our capital needs. Click to View the projects listed for this SPLOST which include a new annex for Kincaid Elementary and the rebuild of Sprayberry High School.

Since the pandemic, we have had to switch things up and think outside the box when engaging our families. It has become even more important to deliver quality programs and content that has an impact. Featured this month:

Family Investment Campaign Update

The Kincaid Foundation has already put your donations to great use this year by providing funds to the STEM lab, teacher reimbursements, and the Design Lab! Our goal is to raise a total of $76,910 this school year to go toward many more initiatives that will support students and teachers. The Family Investment Campaign is the first fundraiser of the year, with a goal of raising $20,000.  So far, Kincaid families have generously donated $8,000 toward that goal. Please help us reach this first goal, so that we can continue to support many more important programs at Kincaid!  Any donation amount is appreciated and helps us reach our goal!

Donating is easy: Go online to: www.kincaidfoundation.org/donate or send a check into the school made out to The Kincaid Elementary Foundation. Please include your name, your address and email, your child's name, and your employer (if you'd like to follow-up with Corporate Matching).
